It includes fun things like frisbees, but also yummy things like snacksize packets of popcorn, and peanut butter and crackers! The best thing about these is they last a long time. At the bottom of the article were more write-in suggestions, like oatmeal bars, beef jerky, and vitamins.
Judy Puppets was telling me that she remembered when she was in college that it was very hard to find (and afford) fresh produce, but that that's such an important part of a balanced diet (have you seen our "My Healthy Plate"?) She also said that when college students are really stressed out with classes and everything, the last thing they think about is healthy eating habits, BUT that healthy eating habits are actually a really good stress management tool - because they help you keep your energy up and your mind the clearest.
I asked Judy Puppets if there was anything she would add to the list in the article and she said she would send a Brita pitcher or water bottle, because hydration is a MAJOR key to healthy eating. She also suggested really smart things like a microwavable veggie steamer, and recipe cards for easy and healthy meals. She said maybe next week we can post some of our own recipe cards! Isn't that cool?
