And now, something close to our pancreas...

Heya friends!  Rocky here, and I wanted to share a really great perspective on something that, as you know, is very close to me.  Sara Sklaroff from the Washington Post wrote a great article about Diabetes and I wanted to share it with you.

Diabetes isn't easy - for people OR puppets.
Sometimes it's easy to forget, but Sara shares smart scrutiny* (try saying THAT 3 times fast!) and really lays down the challenges people (and puppets!) with diabetes face.
Read it and let me know what you think!  Any ideas for ways we can help?

Here it is: "Diabetes Affects Millions, Society Should Not Stigmatize Its Victims"

And of course, if you missed my "Announcement" or want to learn more, check out our videos!

*okay, okay, I *may* have used a thesaurus for that one...shh!

"The Week Before Christmas"

_...and now, a holiday poem for you, from WebSpider!
Whatever you celebrate, we hope you have fun!
                                          .    .    .
Twas the week before Christmas, when all ‘cross the floor
All the puppets were stirring as JP wished them more:
“May your stockings be stuffed with all sort of treats,
Like kisses, and hugs, and holiday sweets!”

They should have been nestled in snug puppet beds,
But visions of sugarplums danced in their heads!
And Judy was sewing, still hard at her work –
With Christmas this close, she didn’t dare shirk!

An Interview with Rocky

Q: Rocky, we understand you just returned from a roadtrip with Judy Puppets and Willow.
A:
Squaaaawk!

Q: Wow, that sounds like you had a great time. What was your favorite part? We know that Willow liked the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
A:
Awk! Squaawk-squaw-awwk.

Q: Yes, WebSpider did mention you like windows.
A:
Kawwk!

Q: Any fun plans for Halloween? We noticed Judy Puppets has begun decorating the workshop.
A:
Erp.

Q: Oh, we understand. Some things are better left a surprise. Is there anything else you wanted to talk to us about?
A:
Yes. This Saturday is International Stuttering Awareness Day. Over three million Americans suffer from this speech disorder - can you imagine how hard it is to struggle to communicate?  This is a day to recognize their struggle, and share resources to help!  Check out the website of The International Stuttering Association, http://www.isastutter.org/ for lots more information. Remember when we went to see The King's Speech?  I really loved that it brought stuttering to a more prominent position in general awareness, and hopefully will continue to shine as a beacon to everyone struggling with stuttering. With hard work, help, and understanding, stuttering can be defeated!  Did you know James Earl Jones was a stutterer? And listen to his voice now!

Q: Thank you for sharing that with us, Rocky. Both links are valuable resources, and we're glad you brought them to everyone's attention. Now tell us, Rocky, we've been hearing rumors about some new visiting puppets? Puppets from far, far away? Do you know anything about that?
A:
[Rocky does not answer, but flaps around the workshop in either excitement or distress]

Q: And that concludes our interview with Rockefeller Fuzz. Have a wonderful day!

Today's blogger: Willow (with Rocky in the background)

[Sent back to the workshop from Atlantic City for publication via carrier pidgeon]

Hello everyone! We had a super fun drive up and have only just arrived! Rocky called shotgun, so I sat happily in the back (it's safer for us little ones anyway) and led the car in songs! What are your favorite car songs? I like "I've Got Sixpence," "The Wheels on the Bus," and of course, Baby Puppets's new hit song, "Hooked on Breastfeeding!" Judy Puppets also led us all in singing "On the Boardwalk (in Atlantic City)" in honor of our first destination.

Rocky meanwhile was VERY excited to be on another road trip.  I think he really likes to see everything zooming by as we drive along, and he kept hollering out the window every time he saw another bird. Judy Puppets had to keep him from flying out the window himself to say hello! It was so funny! I took some pictures so you could see how funny it was too!

Anyway, I hope you all had a fun happy day like we did!  Byyyyyye! [carrier pidgeon reports that Willow waved goodbye at this point]

the view from the workshop
Today's blogger: Web Spider

Judy Puppets packed up the caravan for a road trip all over the Mid-Atlantic.  First stop: the boardwalk of Atlantic City, where life is peaches and cream! Rocky, never one to miss an adventure, has called shotgun, of course. Willow has tagged along as well, though she is more excited about seeing the boardwalk than the actual car ride (Rocky likes the car ride) (Rocky likes any form of travel) (especially if there are windows).

As soon as the motley crew had crept out of the workshop early yesterday morning, I lowered myself to the keyboard from my web in the corner of the workshop. JP left the computer on, so ... I have officially ousted her as Mayor of Puppet Treehouse's blog! Put THAT in your Foursquare pipe and tweet it! (It's possible JP won't even notice at first - look at the last time she updated this blog!) Check back here regularly for travel updates from the whole puppet clan!

I expect to hear from Rocky and Willow very soon about the drive north.

In unrelated news, the outer weaving of my interweb is sending me whispering trembles of new visitors to our world. Tune in next time for more news from that quadrant.

This is Web Spider, spinning off.
