Health Educator
Fifteen years working in the healthcare field and ten years as a health educator has taught Judy many lessons. Perhaps the most important: providing individuals with clear, concise, and straightforward health education empowers them to make decisions to improve the health of themselves, their families, and their communities.
While pursuing her dream of studying theatre direction at New York University, juggling multiple jobs and rigorous performance & academic demands, Judy discovered a second love in nutrition and health education. Thus she began her journey as a Health Educator at NYU, facilitating large-scale events to promote healthy living in addition to working one-on-one with students to improve their overall wellness. Judy designed successful programs, many of which have become NYU traditions, from campus-wide healthy cooking challenges to intimate workshops exploring complex psycho-social issues affecting the student body. She undertook a leadership role in New York University Health Center's Peer Health Education program, training other Health Educators and establishing goals and guidelines for growth and development. She graduated NYU with a BFA in Theatre Directing, a minor in Organization Management, and a passion for Health Education.
Her outreach work has extended to children and adults of all ages and communities, providing unique solutions, recipes, and programming to promote positive body image & total health. Judy's TRIOC Lifestyle Management Program has been recognized for its success within a clinical research study aimed at preventing Type II Diabetes in at-risk patients. She designed targeted evidence-based protocol employing strategies for each patient to identify & maintain positive, attainable goals, and provided ample tools for success. She trained nutrition counselors in program protocol and oversaw the project implementation.
Throughout a decade of work as a Health Educator she has had the opportunity to work with many organizations, including the NYS WIC Association, NYS Department of Health, Public Health Solutions, NYC Housing Authority, NYC Parks & Recreation Department, and many more. Her efforts in community outreach have been recognized by local & state honors.
As Director of Puppet Treehouse Judy unites her passions for puppetry and nutrition education, creating & shepherding her wacky cast of puppets on their journey to spread the word about healthy living!
